Starry Nights!

I decided to teach another of Van Gogh's paintings today. I thought it would be nice to contrast a landscape that he painted with the stilllife of the sunflowers that we did last class. We studied a painting that has always held incredible appeal for me - " Starry Nights".
We discussed his original painting and then created our own versions of the same topic...The medium we used was oil pastel on paper. Take a look!

Mondrian's grids!

We studied the work of Piet Mondrian yesterday and created art based on his pieces. The finished work is really amazing, more so  when you consider the fact that the artists are mostly under 6 yrs old! We used Acrylics on Canvas sheets.

Mini Miro’s- ages 4 – 5 yrs.

Mini Miro’s happily create their own masterpieces and develop important school readiness skills such as fine motor skills, ability to listen and follow directions, cognitive skills and more in a way that develops individual creativity.

Details: 4 sessions a month - Rs. 2000/ individual sessions at Rs.500. Classes on Tuesday - 3.30 p.m– 4.30 p.m

Painting Picasso’s - ages 5 - 9 years

Painting Picasso’s develop new skills and talents while

creating Art using a variety of materials. The methods and styles of contemporary and master artists specializing in paint, design and more are incorporated into each class.

Details: 4 sessions a month - Rs. 2000 or individual sessions at Rs.500. Classes on  Fridays 3.45 pm - 5.45 pm 

Paint ‘n’ Canvas - ages 9 +

Older students learn to paint on canvas using acrylics. They will create a finished artwork over 2 sessions that is inspired by the history, techniques, & style of artists like Mondrian, Kandinsky, Jackson Pollock, Modigliani, Warhol, Van Gogh & Matisse.

Details: 2 projects a month  for Rs. 3500 or individual projects of 2 sessions each at Rs. 1750

Classes on Monday - 11.00 a.m - 1 pm  (adults)

Classes on Wednesdays  - 4.00 p.m– 6.00 p.m

Class today was fun! We did Van Gogh's Sunflowers. I forgot to take pictures so I will update as and when I get images.

The first session of the workshop!

Finally, the first session of the workshop actually got underway without any glitches! We had three children in the 6-10 age group, one adult and one 4 year old in the class and the work they produced was really incredible.
We did self portraits based on the styles and techniques of Modigliani and they really enjoyed creating these elongated, artistically manipulated versions of themselves.
Really looking forward to saturday! We are doing versions of Van Gogh's Sunflowers!

Art camp for kids at the studio!

The camp is dedicated to opening young minds to the greatest of gifts..... CREATIVITY! I aim to provide children with the opportunity to explore the arts hands-on through drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, mixed media & print making in my studio.

I am holding an Art Camp for children between 5-12 that will be spread over four Saturdays the 11th, 18th, 25 of September and the 2nd of October at my studio in Banjara Hills. Students will explore and create personal version of various theme-based projects by working with paints and other material while learning about art history at the same time!

I have found that the best way to develop is to learn from the styles and techniques of the Old Masters. I have adapted this method to teaching children to develop their individual creativity through a structured yet creatively unfettered art program in “the Styles of the Masters”.

IN THE STYLE OF THE MASTERS. - 11th, 18th, 25 of September and the 2nd of October

A series of workshops designed to have you creating a finished artwork in the style of the Masters.

1. Modigliani – Create semi abstract self portraits in the style of Modigliani. – 11th September,2010. ( age group of 5-12 preferred)

2. Chagall – Paint in the style of Marc Chagall as you explore the world of your dreams. 18th September,2010. ( age group of 6-12 preferred)

3. Van Gogh – Paint a bright sunny canvas in the style of Van Gogh’s sun flowers. - 25th September,2010. ( age group of 5-12 preferred)

4. Jackson Pollock –Look at and learn to paint in the style of Jackson Pollock as they learn about Abstract Expressionism and Action Painting. – 2nd October,2010. ( age group of 5-7 preferred)

The classes will be priced at a total of Rs. 2000 for the camp. I will be looking at a minimum of 4 children and a maximum of 8 children a class. As the individual classes will be linked in teaching methodology and development over 4 sessions, I would prefer you registering for the entire workshop at a go as I would them make arrangements for supplies and materials in advance.
